I still like Israel's getting into Fo ...title, but then
only to blunt the reality of this hell that has been going
on for long enough.
I don't think war in the Fertile Crescent will ever end as long as men live there.
You should read some of my mail. (-:

Well I am reading it now...
Getting back to Israel and the middle east as a region, and it's PC>problems.
Can you imagine, the economic clout they would have, in tourism
if they ever could agree, just to put the religious bickerings
aside? Last night, a friend of mine gave me a video from the
region, and explained just how dumb it all is, and how each
religion is clinging to this and that, not moving or giving
for the common good, and all their religious believes.
There is even a ladder or remains against a wall that is in
dispute, as celery fist fight over who can do what where ..etc. PC>Apparently the ladder dates from late 1800s.
Then I see celergy fist fighting over this or what which just
seems so stupid ....but so hot is the dispute and control.
No Peace .... never, and anyone living there, might as well
get use to it, and if they want peace.....eliminate the other
guy. Might as well. Bad to say, but it is just so tightly
jaggered for even a border let alone anything else, they might
as well decide it all by killing until only one group is left.
So much for religion and a deity that is suppose to practice
and encourage peace.
Excuses, excuses. The real issue is economic. War is nothing more
than the exchange of real estate with human lives. At least with negototiation there is little or no loss of human life.

It's really very sad. My youngest son was in the Marine Corps and was sent to Beirut right after those 253 Marines were killed by a truck
bomb. His unit was to relieve those already there and those who were killed didn't come home in a way they expected. During the skirmishes which ensued, I almost lost my son in a mortar attack.
Nah, I'm referring to the old stuff. It's really spicy, but I
wouldn't put it on food or eat while reading. (-:
Well, yeah, I can imagine it. I've seen photos my son took while
there and he told me that whole area is very beautiful. But those stoneheads will never get over their religious anger long enough to realize they're sitting on a gold mine. It's the older ones who constantly teach the younger ones to hate that I have the biggest
problem with.

Maybe even earlier than that.
To our way of life it is stupid. What they fail to realize is even if they were to eradicate the people they hate the most (the Israelis) and have that whole territory for themselves, then what's next?
It's an out and out waste of time and men and the elderly
irresponsibles are directly responsible because that hate has been
handed down for generations.
Peace on THEIR terms.
Regards,
Roger

It's not just the Jews and Palestinians fighting there.
I've read that the various Christian sects that have
custody of at least one of the religious shrines in the
area often if not regularly come to blows over some real
or imagined problem.
That news of a near loss of a love one must have numbed you.
Oh, then perhaps I should make a special order for the complete works
of Mr. Roger Nelson?
My nephew was there too, and taking taboo photos which I later told
him , if caught he would be shot. Dummie, too yonge to realize
the complexities of the area.
Yes very beautiful.
Yes there are examples, I saw in the photos, and also the too too
many divisions of christain infighting with others that are
either Christain or otherwise.
This is an area, which is so innvolved in dispute over this or that Christians against others, or Israeli vs Israeli or Arab and so forth ......eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrr! Too big. Boggles the mind :)
Yes, they still very much remember some invaders from 1000AD
like it was yesterday, and this , as you say is all handed down
from the elders to the children.
I don't mind them remembering, and ok..so nasty deeds were done
but this is today, and we are all supposed to be a bit more
enlightened..or so I thought.
Roger, I would go with Peace on their terms, as it is and shall be
but I would also for the price on their terms ask that concessions
be made on many outstanding issues old and new, and I know there
must be give and take.
I have an invite from an Arab family to visit the Middle East
and it was funny how this came about, as I a western took the
time to greet the husband on a festival the correct way, as
well when he was injured at work I took it upon myself to make
sure he was cared for and his family were informed and
transported .....thus I hope to see from the other side
and ....ok ...maybe dangerous thing to do.
Have a great week

It was a fleeting feeling because my son didn't tell me about it until
he arrived back home. He got here about the same time his letter about the events in Granada and Beirut arrived.
I had written a letter to
President Reagan at the time (early Eighties) and he took the time to write back. My son asked if he could keep that letter, so I let him
have it.
Oh, then perhaps I should make a special order for the complete works
of Mr. Roger Nelson?
Only if you want to be bored to tears. (-:

We were immortal when young, which is how that old adage came into
being about youth being wasted on the young.
Sort of reminds me of the Catholics and christians in Ireland. One
side is repulsed by the other.
Yes, it does. Next they'll be arguing over a grain of sand.
A pity that hate has blinded them to freedom.
That's what any free, thinking man thinks.
In the end you can't because it's wrong.
So, are you going?
In my case, I arrived at the family home in the US of A, only to know another war or whatever had touch me with a trip to the local cemetery
and then what hit me were all the familys that were hurting.
What a feeling.
That is a keeper....oh yeah...if you are a fan of Mr. Reagan.
Its ever that or listen to what I am forced too here.... Who knows
you might have an interesting story to tell, and might not realize it.
Oh yeah the Protestants and Catholics and a marching some date to
remember something that happened 400 years ago. Daft... but finally
it seems all this is coming to an end. We can always hope.
Ssssh don't give them any ideas.
They are free to think, but then they do get these ultra whatevers
and they have their own twist on things.... oh well you know the
drill.
Of course it is wrong. One will always find it wrong, and
no matter one of the other will not accept even a start.
Yes. I have no fears, and I go as always with an open mind
and I know for sure I am going to run into one of these
ultras .... I just feel it.
Getting time for dinner, so to the galley for me to skin
a lake fish and make a dinner...one of the nice things about
living beside a lake.
