    Hello everybody!

Bushfire in my neck of the planet! I live on the eastern side of Lake Burrumbeet (Bottom Center).
It might look like a long way away, but it's only 13Klm away at Beaufort.

My main Amiga's (A1200, A3000) are packed in the car with cloths and other items.
I'll put my Linux PC and server in tomorrow along with the BBS machine if conditions change..

A "Watch and Act" means get ready to leave. The Grey area's on the map, are what actually has been burnt.

    Howdy,

Bushfire in my neck of the planet! I live on the eastern side of Lake Burrumbeet (Bottom Center).
It might look like a long way away, but it's only 13Klm away at Beaufort.

And here I was thinking I've had a bad day.

Left Darwin at lunch time, only to find they decided to stop in Alice Springs to refuel - because of the weather in Melbourne that they couldnt arrive with sufficient reserves for holding.

Then we get to Alice and its 42 degress (hotter than forecast), too hot to take off with the full weight. Sat in the plane for 2hrs while they figured something out.

They decided to go to Adelaide instead of waiting until 6pm (when it should be cooler) - because had they waited, they would have had to swap crew - and no crew in Alice. (And easier to get crew to Adelaide if they werent there...)

Anyway, fingers cross wind does a 180 - I'd do a rain dance here, but not sure it would help... :(

Stay safe and I send best wishes / good vibes that all will go smoothly.

There's been some nasty fires in Christchurch about 5 hours up the road from me but so far that's been about it over here.

Luckly I was in a "Keep Informed" area... and it stayed like that.

There are four basic level's, with each one being worse than the last:

    Keep Informed.
Watch & Act (Get ready to leave/pack).
    Leave now.
    Too Late, bunker down.

About 1am they changed my area to a safe area, not under threat. The fire moved in a North West direction when the change came
through. It was pushing toward Ballarat before then. So in the end we didn't need to leave, but it was better to be ready...

There hase been three bushfires in the region over the past three weeks. Only the curent one is still doing damage.

To the south in the scarsdale area was one last week (Grey area on map), that was also the first time back in the 90's that I
went though the very real experiance of living though a big bushfire. It burnt our back paddock.

This one being very close to home was enough for me to get things packed and be ready to leave....

We have a few 30+ days here now but to be fair mostly it's mid 20s in summer and cooler in winter like 8-12 Celsius most of the time.. do have the odd snow day and below 0 temps but you can count most on one hand each winter.
