Is there a way to make Mystic insert the CHRS kludge?

It looks like the mystic editor won't add in the CHRS kludge, but you can include it if you're using mutil to post your message, like this one has.

If a message posted on a Mystic BBS contains non-ASCII characters (e.g. accented vocals, áéíóú, or the n with tilde, ñ), message readers may not know how to decode it, as there is no CHRS kludge.

Some editors that support multiple charsets may assume CP437 if no CHRS is present (I have it configured that way in my GoldED). But it would be nice if Mystic supported this kludge, like most modern FTN software. See FTS-5003 for info about this standard.

I assume (I don't know Mystic) that's a tool you can use to post text files to a messagebase. So, did you manually insert the kludges (CHRS, REPLY and the funny one) in the file?

Yes, mutil can post text files which is what I did there. And also correct, I just manually added in the kludge lines at the top of the text file:

    echo -e "\01CHRS: CP437 2" > message.txt

It is on the list to do. The issue right now is that Mystic only knows "ASCII" and "UTF-8" so I need to add a prompt/field to allow the user to set their ASCII codepage before I can add in the CHRS properly.

My goal is to release A49 once we go some period of time without issues so that I can make larger changes for A50 which this would be a part of.

Would it be sufficient to set CHRS according to the Default CodePage + Ask CodePage settings? (If Ask CodePage is set to Detect, it should hopefully be correct for each connection.)

Sounds great! Thanks a lot! =)
