You might also ask him if those numbers include all of the announced tech layoffs that have come out in the past week or so. Amazon and Google are both letting a lot of folks go.
It's not like they had very conservative hiring plans to begin with.
Google going from 135,000 employees in 2020 to 182,000 in 2023 is
agressive, laying off 1000 after that is a rounding error.
Admittedly, that doesn't resonate well with the 1000 that were laid
off.
