550_UTIL.ZIP contains 3 utilities for the 16550 UART. IS16550.EXE tests for the presence of a 16550 on ports COM1: - COM4:. 16550.EXE turns the 16550 FIFO on or off to fix when programs leave the FIFO on at exit (this can cause the port to not exist upon a warm reboot or other programs to not recognize the port. COMM.BAT shows use of 16550JHH.EXE and NU Batch Enhancer to turn off the 16550 FIFO upon exit from TELIX.
